In Norse mythology, Bifröst is a rainbow bridge burning in the sky, connecting Midgard (Earth) and Asgard, the realm of the gods. The Yggdrasil (Tree of Life) is a huge mythical tree that plays a central role in the story. Its branches reach far into the heavens (the universe of the ‘Inception’ painting), supported by three roots, and its trunk crosses Midgard, inhabited and known by humans. The web of destiny (Web of Wyrd) is woven at the roots of this tree.
