Opening: 20.05.20.2022.
Address: Max City Törökbálint, Gallery Max
Opening in the MaxCity Gallery MAX space, the exhibition entitled “Light Essence” showcased the works of more than 20 contemporary artists for a month, encouraging visitors to spend at least 30 minutes (sitting, standing or even on a yoga mat) in the exhibition space, illuminated by various artworks, digital works and light installations, where visitors experienced a whole new perception of the world of light and color.
The impact of primary natural light sources such as the sun, moon and stars on the formation and evolution of human civilization over thousands of years has long been studied. The “disembodied” light as a means of creating images in its own right was born in the Bauhaus, and László Moholy-Nagy played a prominent role in this. In one of his sculptural works, László Moholy-Nagy almost captured light and enclosed it in material.
Our senses are culturally and socially coded. To get beyond our senses, we have to leave behind our cultural determinations.
Through contemporary works in a variety of media and techniques, the exhibition allowed viewers not only to experience the healing power of light, but also to have an immersive experience that offered new dimensions and interpretations of the visual representation of light art. It is important to break out of the rigid framework of everyday life in the infinite scale, in the relation of the moment, and to be influenced by impulsive experiences instead of automated decision situations.
