The task of a work of art is not a faithful approach to reality.
While science is based on the laws of logic, art affects emotions. The rhythm of music is hidden behind the displayed visions in Krisztina Major’s pictures.
Each image conveys an impression or mood, which unfolds continuously between layers of paint. (Mussorgsky: Ballet of the chicks in their shells from the Pictures at an Exhibition; the ballet of the Sugar Plum Fairy from Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker; the evil neighbor from Ugly Kid Joe: Neighbor; a hesitant man’s face who wants to paint a red door black from the Rolling Stones song Paint it, Black or the doorknob that opens the door of Heaven from Guns N’ Roses’ Knockin’on Heaven’s Door).
The freedom of the artist lies in the fact that she decides how she transforms reality. Through Krisztina’s pictures we can enter a special universe. The images turn into gateways, which open a path leading to the world of emotions – the universe of imagination – where, even if for moments – we can step out of reality. All you have to do is ZOOM on the paintings and enter the world of art. The images of the exhibition inspired an exciting collaboration, which resulted the THINWOOD x Major Krisztina optic glasses frame capsule collection created by a Hungarian tailormade designer company (www.thinwood.hu).
