This painting is the part of the serie of four paintings entitled Axis Mundi. Full title: Axis Mundi S2 – West – The tree of Eden
From Genesis, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…”, and the sequel tells us about the creation of man, and gives us a glimpse of a magnificent garden. We are witnessing an idyllic state: the unveiled relationship between man and God. Adam was told by God that there was a tree from which he could not eat. But God saw that it was not good for man to be alone, so a woman called Eve was created. The fall of man brought an end to the idyll. Because Adam and Eve ate from the tree of knowledge of good and evil, they became disobedient to God, succombing to the serpent’s temptation. The first pair of humans failed and had to leave the Garden of Eden.
